Virgin Trains

Single source supplier for Virgin Trains

Virgin Trains Case Study

What our client wanted

Virgin Trains had a number of different print suppliers in place that were collectively responsible for the management and distribution of its West Coast Line print materials which included marketing resources and operational print. In addition, Virgin had a separate fulfilment supplier for their storage and distribution to all stations, with limited management information, high storage costs and poor customer services. Having multiple suppliers meant that the systems and process in place were complicated and lacked consistency both in terms of price and quality.

What we gave them

Virgin West Coast needed a partner to manage marketing, operation, design and print services, along with the storage and timed distribution of all documents. We created a simple online ordering platform for Virgin Trains giving it access to Paragon’s dedicated and bespoke ecommerce platform PEP, which has been specifically developed for the UK rail industry, delivering an efficient and streamlined service. As a specialist within the mass transit sector, Paragon has the capacity and infrastructure in place to manage a contract of this size, while also having the expertise to improve processes and add value to Virgin’s operation.

What was the impact

The use of PEP has resulted in an improved process, which delivers the efficient distribution of all print materials which are consistent in terms of quality and price. Through PEP, Virgin can place orders and oversee reporting and track items through the supply chain to delivery. Items are now sourced through a single supplier providing both cost and process efficiencies. Furthermore, the implementation phase has successfully led to an extension of the contract and continued work together, with Paragon becoming the preferred supplier.
